Good news? Bad news?

After 3 cycles of chemo, Dad went for CT scan on 25 Feb. Today, we (Dad & Mum, Mr & Mrs Teow, K1, K2) went to see Dr Tang. She told us the CT scan results which show lots of fluids in Dad’s stomach. ‘Charlie’ cells did not respond well to chemo and cause the fluids to multiply in Dad’s stomach. She suggested to stop chemo because chemo does not help to improve Dad’s condition. In addition, she said it’s not advisable to do operation. Instead, she suggested to insert a tube to drain the fluids out from Dad’s stomach so that Dad don’t feel bloated in his stomach and could have better appetite to eat his meals.

In Dec 2012, Dad’s weight was 55kg. On 28 Feb, Dad’s weight is 50.8kg.

After being a temp caregiver for 2 months, I started to feel bored staying at home and missed my work-life balance. So, I went online to browse the jobs search websites and sent my resume. Yesterday, I received a call and went down for interview. I thought the person-in-charge will contact me to let me know if I’m hired. To my surprise, he asked when can I start work? Tomorrow is my 1st day of work, hope I get along well with my new colleagues and we’re able to work together as a team. Jia you 🙂

Ah Boys to Men 2

Dad said he wants to watch the movie ‘Ah Boys to Men 2’ after seeing the movie trailer shown on tv.

On 17 Feb, Mum, K1 and K2 brought Dad to watch ‘Ah Boys to Men 2’. Before the movie starts, we had breakfast (Hotcakes set meal) at McDonald’s. During the screening of ‘Ah Boys to Men 2’, laughter was heard among the audience and we were able to understand the difficulties, joys and teamwork that men encountered during NS.

Glad that Dad enjoys watching ‘Ah Boys to Men 2’. After the movie, Dad & K2 went home to rest. Papa, mum & I went to a distant relative’s house in Yishun to 拜年. Then, we head to Giant for grocery shopping and wait for mama to knock off from work.

This Sun, K1 & K2 are going to Mr & Mrs Teow’s house to light firecrackers and fireworks. Hooray, we are excited 🙂

Next week, Dad is going for CT scan. We pray that CT scan shows positive results so that K1 could look for a job & start work in March (fingers crossed).

Welcome to the Year of Snake 2013

Dad went for his 3rd chemo 2 days before Chinese New Year (CNY). This year, on the eve of CNY, we went to papa’s house for reunion dinner as well as to celebrate Sarah’s 1st month. We had steamboat and bbq. I was delighted to hear that Naomi was waiting for me to play with her and she gave me vegetarian floss. Mama gave us prune kueh lapis and ngaku crackers. Few minutes before the countdown to CNY, Siew Mei jie jie called to wish us 新年快乐 and let me hear the sound of fire crackers.

On the 1st day of CNY, Ah Soon kor kor and his friend came to our house to 拜年. After that, Papa fetched us to 奶奶 house. The adults play their yearly poker card games while the children play handphone games. Uncle Wong & his family came to 奶奶 house to 拜年. We had dinner before Uncle Daniel fetched us home.

On the 2nd day of CNY, relatives came to our house for yearly CNY gathering. Mum cooked 素猪脚醋 and plain rice, Korean glass noodles (Tom yam & plain flavours), cabbage with carrot & tang hun, prawn & pineapple in sweet tomato gravy, sng cai with tau kwa, hard boiled eggs, fish ball. Uncle Stanley cooked 素算盘子 and 海燕 jelly with longan drink. Relatives took turn to play mahjong. Naomi gave me hello kitty sweets. Alvin & K2 are wondering why Naomi wants me to play with her? Alvin, K1 & K2 took photos with Naomi before she leaves our house. We gathered at the table for a family photo and lo hei (Huat ah…).

The year of water snake seems to be a good year for few Chinese zodiac. Hopefully this year will be smooth sailing (good health for us, May I meet my Mr Right etc). Xie xie ni 🙂
